These are the terms for using Runway Plan (runway-plan.com). By signing in, you agree to these terms. Read them with the Privacy Policy.

What this service is

Runway Plan is a personal financial-planning web app. You enter your holdings, salary, expenses, and family info; the app computes net worth, FIRE projections, retirement scenarios, and (optionally) generates AI Reports. It is operated by an individual developer (the "operator") on a self-hosted server. There is no company, no team, no SLA.

Not financial advice

Nothing in Runway Plan is financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. The numbers, charts, recommendations, AI reports, FIRE projections, Monte Carlo simulations, tax breakdowns, and any other output are calculated estimates produced by software you should sanity-check. Decisions about your money are yours alone. If you act on something the app showed you and it costs you money, that's on you.

The AI Reports are generated by a large language model (Anthropic Claude). They can be wrong, miss context, or fabricate plausible-sounding numbers. Treat them as a draft for your own thinking, never as a buy/sell signal.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old. You must use a real Google account that you own. Don't sign up with someone else's account.

Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Try to access another user's tenant database. The architecture stops you, but trying anyway is grounds for account termination.
  • Probe for security holes without telling us first. (If you're a security researcher: email [email protected] — we'll thank you.)
  • Use the AI Reports feature in a way that violates Anthropic's Usage Policies.
  • Resell, rebrand, or redistribute the service.
  • Automate the API beyond reasonable personal use. The site has rate limits; don't try to circumvent them.

Subscriptions (Premium tier)

  • Premium is $9.99/month or $89/year, billed via Lemon Squeezy. Pricing may change with notice.
  • You get a 7-day free trial. Cancel within 7 days and you won't be charged.
  • After the trial, the subscription auto-renews until cancelled. Cancel any time from Settings → Plan & AI → Manage subscription.
  • Cancellation stops future billing. The current period continues until its end. We do not refund the current period; you keep Premium access until the end date.
  • The referral program may extend your Premium expiry by 30 days per friend who upgrades. Referral credits apply at the next subscription_cancelled event, not immediately, so they don't get overwritten by the regular billing cycle.
  • Lemon Squeezy handles all card processing. We never see your card number.

BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)

If you're a Premium subscriber, you can paste your own Anthropic API key in Settings to run AI Reports through your own Anthropic account at your own cost. When BYOK is active:

  • Calls go through your Anthropic account; you pay Anthropic directly for token usage.
  • The weekly quota cap drops to a 5-minute cooldown (effectively unlimited).
  • Your Anthropic key is encrypted at rest with a key derived from SESSION_SECRET + your user_id.
  • We do not see, transmit, or log your Anthropic key. The key validation ping uses the key live but doesn't store it elsewhere.

Data

You own your data. You can export it any time (Settings → Export Data). You can delete your account any time (Settings → Delete Account); see the Privacy Policy for what survives in audit and backup.

We back up data nightly. We aim for high reliability but cannot guarantee zero data loss — the disaster-recovery design targets a max of ~24 hours of data loss in the worst case (next backup hasn't fired yet when something dies). If continuous availability is critical to you, this app is not the right tool.

AI output

When you run an AI Report, your data is processed by Anthropic per the Privacy Policy. The output is generated content; you may use it however you like for your own personal financial planning. Don't republish it as if it were our advice or commercial work — it's content you generated using our tool.

Service availability

Runway Plan is "best-effort, single-Mac deployment." There's no uptime SLA. The app may be unavailable during macOS updates, power outages, internet outages, or while the operator is asleep on the wrong continent. The operator monitors uptime and tries to fix things quickly, but you should not depend on the app for time-critical decisions (like submitting a tax filing five minutes before deadline).

Termination

The operator may terminate your account if you violate these terms (the "don't" list above). You may close your account any time. On termination, the Privacy Policy deletion procedure applies.

Disclaimers and liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. To the maximum extent allowed by applicable law, the operator's total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months prior to the claim — which for most users is $0 or up to ~$120/yr. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or punitive damages.

This is a personal-finance app run by one person. Treat it accordingly.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (the operator's jurisdiction). Disputes shall be resolved in Taipei courts. If you're outside Taiwan, your local consumer-protection rights still apply where required by law.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email. The git history of docs/terms_en.md is the canonical changelog.
